It is God-ordained. We are commanded to pray without ceasing. We are to ask, seek and knock. However, prayer is much more than a “spiritual 911.” As it is perceived by many Christians, it is a means of team power to change the mind of a reluctant God in the face of unwanted events in life. Prayer as it is practiced among many evangelical Christians, is a twisted version of what Biblical prayer is all about.
